A recommended process

Step 1:

Locate your current resume and bring it up to date. Add facts, figures, and examples that show how you have benefited past employers. If you are in need of a starting point or a different template, you can get great ideas from MS Word itself. Open up your current resume and click “FILE” in the upper left-hand corner. Then click “NEW”, type in “RESUME” and click the search icon. You should get about 50 resume templates to look at.

As you think about sharing your resume with your small group by Thursday, please take some sensible steps to retain as much privacy as possible. For example, consider using repeated letters, such as XXXX XXXX, or clearly false numbers such as 123-456-7890, instead of key information–your actual street address, phone number, and email address. In some cases, you may even want to use XXX for names of some employers.

On the topic of confidentiality, I also recommend not sharing the names and contact information of the people who have agreed to give you references.
